The Youth for Clean Communities (YCC) project has officially commenced with a successful two-day program held at the Northern School of Business Senior High School (NOBISCO) in Tamale from 20th to 21st June 2026.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in promoting environmental sustainability and empowering young people to become ambassadors for cleaner and healthier communities.
The successful implementation of the program was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Water-Lily Foundation project team, the NOBISCO School Administration, the Sagnarigu Municipal Environmental Health Office, and the Sagnarigu Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The project also received full endorsement from the Northern Regional Education Directorate, demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental education and youth development.

Throughout the two-day event, students participated in engaging environmental stewardship sessions, awareness campaigns, and practical activities designed to encourage responsible waste management and environmental conservation. The program provided participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to become active advocates for sustainable living within their school and surrounding communities.
The Youth for Clean Communities project is founded on the belief that lasting environmental change begins with education and active participation. By removing barriers to environmental action and making sustainable practices more visible and accessible, the initiative aims to transform students’ willingness to protect the environment into lifelong habits.
As the project progresses, participating students are expected to serve as change agents, inspiring their peers and communities to adopt cleaner and more sustainable environmental practices.
The Water-Lily Foundation and its partners remain committed to monitoring the project’s impact while expanding opportunities for youth-led environmental action across the region, contributing to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.
