March 2024
As part of its commitment to staff development and youth empowerment, the Water-Lily Foundation participated in a 3-day intensive Youth Advocacy Training held in Bolgatanga in March 2024. The training, organised by Curious Minds Ghana in partnership with UNICEF Ghana, brought together stakeholders dedicated to advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) across the country.
Representing the Foundation was Ayisha Abdul Wahab, a passionate advocate and team member who joined participants from across regions to explore effective strategies for community mobilisation and youth-inclusive advocacy.
The training sessions focused on core areas including:
1. Youth-centered advocacy approaches
2. SRHR and GBV policy frameworks
3. Community mobilisation techniques
4. Action-based learning methods tailored to rural contexts
Ayisha’s active participation in practical sessions and peer learning activities enriched her knowledge and advocacy toolkit. She returned with renewed energy and innovative strategies to support Water-Lily Foundation’s programs on youth health education, gender inclusion, and rights-based community outreach.
This investment in staff capacity reinforces the Foundation’s mission to empower youth and promote equitable access to health and protection services, especially in underserved communities.
Quote from Ayisha:
“The training deepened my understanding of how to effectively involve young people in shaping the change they want to see. I am excited to implement what I learned in our community-focused projects.”
